Powell steps up to lead Jets to 23-17 OT win over 49ers
SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Bilal Powell has been a complementary running back for most of his career, trying to make the most of whatever opportunity comes his way.
When Matt Forte went down with a knee injury in the first quarter and the New York Jets not wanting to put too much on Bryce Petty’s plate in his second career start, Powell got plenty of chances.
Powell ran for 145 yards and scored the game-winning 19-yard touchdown in overtime that helped the Jets overcome a 14-point deficit to beat the San Francisco 49ers 23-17 on Sunday.
