The US, several European countries, Turkey and the Gulf states have renewed calls for a new ceasefire in Aleppo, a city now over 95% controlled by Syrian government forces. Accordingly, some Russian observers have begun to question whether Western officials have any understanding of realities on the ground and what negotiations are really about.
