"This is the most scared I've ever been being an ER doctor, and it's not just because of me. It's because I have a wife and a 2-year-old and a 1-year-old at home and I don't want to expose them," he told CBS News' David Begnaud.

Amazon employees staged a strike against the online retail giant earlier in the week. One worker claims he was fired for staging a walkout in New York, a claim the company denies. Another at the management level said she was told to keep an employee's coronavirus diagnosis a secret, which the company also denied. "I deal with gunshots every day and trauma and crazy stuff and this is the only thing that scares me," said emergency room doctor, Dr. Scott Samlan. He and his colleagues at Mount Sinai Hospital on Chicago's west side have been on the front lines battling the coronavirus pandemic with the limited supplies they have, even being forced to make their own masks to make up for the supply shortage. He speaks to David Begnaud about the struggles he and his fellow colleagues are facing as the crisis deepens.

Authorities are worried the coronavirus could spread in poorer areas where crowds are difficult to control.

South Africa is reporting over 1,300 confirmed coronavirus cases, making it the hardest-hit African country so far. In the township of Alexandra in Johannesburg, one of the nation's poorest communities, security forces fire rubber bullets at those defying orders to stay at home. Debora Patta speaks to a resident who highlighted the struggle of remaining indoors while living in a one-room house with six people.

Hospitals across the city say their ICUs are nearly full as Governor Andrew Cuomo warns the worst may still be three weeks away.
