Legacy of four who departed public service this week

Last week, there were four high-profile departures from public service, ranging from highly distinguished to controversial to disastrous: Rep. George Santos became the sixth lawmaker to be expelled from Congress and former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger died at the age of 100, while Rosalynn Carter was remembered as she was laid to rest in Georgia and Sandra Day O'Connor, the first woman on the Supreme Court, died at the age of 93. Dr. Scott Gottlieb says likely a "typical winter pathogen season" ahead

Former FDA commissioner Dr. Scott Gottlieb tells "Face the Nation" that the U.S. is looking at a "more typical winter pathogen season" despite a cluster of unusual pneumonia in Ohio. Gottlieb says the CDC has looked into the cluster and found "it's a known bacteria that is epidemic every three to five years so we've seen epidemics of this in the past."



Major oil and gas companies agree to cut down methane emissions at COP28

A coalition of 50 major oil and gas companies are expected to agree to significantly cut their methane emissions by the end of the decade at the COP28 climate summit, marking a potential breakthrough in the fight against climate change. Israel Defense Forces resume Gaza advance while Hamas still holds 130 hostages

With the cease-fire in shambles, Israel Defense Forces resumed their advance in Gaza while Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu insists the ground operation gives Israel leverage to free the remaining 130 hostages who remain in the hands of Hamas. This weekend in Qatar, Israeli intelligence sent a team to continue negotiations with Hamas, but hours later, that team turned around saying "Hamas did not uphold its part of the agreement, which included the release of all of the women and children." Chris Livesay reports.
