AUMA convention highlights municipal fiscal concerns

The annual fall convention of Alberta’s urban municipalities was a chorus of fiscal concerns from communities. The convention heard from Premier Jason Kenney and many members of his cabinet, and the message from the province was clear: more tough decisions are on the way. An Edmonton artist was recently granted the honour of painting Ruth Bader Ginsburg and the piece was featured on the cover of TIME Magazine. The portrait was done earlier this year and as Sarah Komadina explains, the piece of the late US Supreme Court justice now holds much more meaning.

Some Lethbridge students say they are concerned about paying fees for services and facilities they will not have access to due to COVID-19. As Emily Olsen reports, University of Lethbridge officials have already introduced a few options to help alleviate the financial burden.
