Jalen Brunson willing to take less money to sign max extension this summer?

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

Jalen Brunson turned out to be a bargain free-agent signing two years ago at $107 million for four years. All indications are he won’t hold the team up now, and that he’s willing to sign a four-year, $156 million contract extension. That would remove his fourth season from the current deal and provide five more years of certainty in New York, rather than waiting until next summer for a five-year, $270 million extension.

Rockets interested in Donovan Mitchell

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

Another possibility, if the Rockets were to move the No. 3 pick, is packaging it with additional assets for a star. Houston is flush with young talent and draft capital that could appeal to teams with elite talent in flux. One player who fits is Cleveland’s Donovan Mitchell. The Rockets are among those interested in the 27-year-old and have been monitoring his situation for months, league sources say. The Cavaliers guard’s delay in inking a long-term extension, coupled with another disheartening playoff exit... Читать дальше...

Myles Turner on Pascal Siakam's free agency: We’re hoping that he signs back in Indiana

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

Myles Turner on Pascal Siakam’s future: He’s a free agent this summer. We’re hoping that he signs back in Indiana. He’s someone that we’d love to have who can really help us going forward. I think it was a great move for us to get him. Kevin Pritchard was very adamant about trying to add more length, and he was able to get it done with a special player. I’ve really enjoyed playing with him in the frontcourt together. He’s someone who’s also going to help my game. He commands so much attention that I’m able to get loose for my threes. Myles Turner eyeing All-Defensive honors, humanitarian award, championship

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

Myles Turner on future goals individually and as a team player: Individually, you want to get that first All-Star birth. You want to finally get some All-Defensive recognition and be able to be the guy that gets these types of humanitarian awards for the work you do in the community and have stuff like that recognized. As far as a team goal, the goal is to win a championship. There’s no other way to put that. When we started talking about this at the beginning of the year, it was far-fetched to... Читать дальше...

Myles Turner on Tyrese Haliburton: He’s definitely helped transcend my career

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

Myles Turner on Tyrese Haliburton: He’s definitely helped transcend my career, to say the least. I think the biggest thing with Tyrese is that he wants to pass more than he wants to score. When you think of a point guard, you’d think that would be the epitome of that, but in a league where scoring is paramount, it’s a rarity when you have guys like Tyrese who embrace that role of coming in and being a creator but can also step up when you need him. I think the sky’s the limit for him. The past two or three years since he’s been here... Читать дальше...

2024 NBA Draft Combine: Winners and losers

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

The 2024 NBA Draft Combine has concluded, and as the dust settles in Chicago, we review the most significant winners and losers from this year’s pre-draft event. Despite being considered one of the weakest drafts in recent memory, the combine still plays a crucial role. It helps fringe lottery picks, determines if a player is a late first-rounder or early second-rounder, and boosts the chances of players who might have gone undrafted. With the draft just over a month away, here’s a breakdown of... Читать дальше...

Michael Porter Jr after elimination: If I had played up to what I normally do, we would have won the series

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

“This was a terrible series,” Porter said after shooting 3 for 12 in a 98-90 Game 7 loss. “I felt like I might’ve had one or two good games out of the seven we played. Part of it was the way they were guarding. Part of it was (that) my shot wasn’t falling. It’s just tough because I know if I would have played up to par with how I normally play, we would have won this series. And there’s a lot of things that could have been different as a team, but I know if I had played my part, we would have won the series. Читать дальше...
