Kings discussed Harrison Barnes, Kevin Huerter, Davion Mitchell, pick for Pascal Siakam
Scotto: The Kings have been active in trade talks, and the biggest name that’s come up recently is Pascal Siakam. It seemed for a hot second there that maybe they were going to get him, then talks pulled back. From my standpoint, I had heard that the Sacramento talks for Siakam centered primarily around Harrison Barnes, Kevin Huerter, Davion Mitchell and a first-round pick or so of potential draft pick compensation of a first-round variety for Siakam in those talks.

53-51 Raptors at half as they limit Davis to just three points in the second quarter. He has 19 at half, but the Raptors won the non-Davis minutes handily and it carried over late in second quarter. Barrett has 16, Barnes 12, Quickley 10 and Siakam 8. – 11:35 PM

Predictably, Anthony Davis has been a problem. He’s got 16 points on 7-9 FG, scoring or assisting on 23 of the Lakers’ 28 first-quarter points. Raptors hanging in, though, only down 4 after 1Q. Siakam and Barnes combined for 15 points. LeBron is scoreless but has 5 assists – 11:08 PM

5. Find your game? One advantage to a game like this is that players that are struggling can try to find a rhythm. Whether it translates when the Kings hit the road or not, Kevin Huerter played well, hitting 2-for-5 from deep for 17 points and 3 assists. – 8:08 PM

More on this storyline
Scotto: There had also been some Zach LaVine chatter a little bit earlier in the season. I hadheard the two names that came up there from Sacramento duringtrade conversations were Kevin Huerter and Harrison Barnes. From Chicago’s side, There is a level ofinterest in Huerter for sure. To my understanding, they’ve done background intel on him trying to figure out what’s going on there and why he has struggled a little bit this year. He’s a player that they’ve liked. That’s a team (Chicago) that doesn’t want to rebuild. Before this regime, Vivek Ranadivé was there when they tried to give LaVine an offer sheet many years ago. -via HoopsHype / January 10, 2024
Evan Sidery: Pascal Siakam reportedly told the Kings he would not re-sign after this season, which is what ended trade talks with the Raptors, per @DLoAndKC. Sacramento had a proposal primarily built around Harrison Barnes and draft capital. pic.twitter.com/qGzp5neand -via Twitter @esidery / January 8, 2024
Run it Back: “I’m told the Raptors and Kings were in active conversations about a Pascal Siakam trade… revolving around Harrison Barnes. At this point, the only way it ignites is if Toronto comes back to Sacramento.” @Shams Charania on Pascal Siakam. -via Twitter / January 8, 2024
James Ham: I think the Kings would still be in it, but some of the issues that we’re hearing right now at this point might be that Siakam didn’t want to come to Sacramento or he made it known that he would not sign an extension. I don’t have it on my end, but here one of my buddies here at ESPN 1320 in Sacramento, Damien Barling, according to his sources, Siakam made it clear to the Kings that he would likely not re-sign if they did trade for him. That just kind of crushes this entire deal because of the salary structure, and the fact that the Kings wouldn’t have a whole lot of cap space to replace Barnes and Heurter if they did move on from those guys and then lost Siakam in free agency. -via HoopsHype / January 10, 2024
ESPN’s Brian Windhorst explained on Tuesday’s episode of NBA Today that it appears the Lakers don’t have assets that would be enticing to other teams, especially when there are other stars available on the trade market: “There’s a lot of teams interested in calling the [Toronto Raptors] for Pascal Siakam. There’s no teams interested in calling the Lakers for the players that they want to trade. … The Lakers have to go through this homestand and figure out whether they’re gonna do something, but even if they want to, they don’t have guys who have high value right now like the Raptors have had over the past few months. I don’t even know if it’s comparable.” -via Bleacher Report / January 10, 2024
Scotto: We also touched on Keegan Murray, and I wanted to get your thoughts on him, because if they’re going to get Pascal Siakam or Kyle Kuzma, you’re going to move Murray positionally down to the three. Is Sacramento trying to upgrade at the four while moving Keegan to the three? What’s the thought process in Sacramento, given where he’s at, especially since you mentioned they think he can be a star. Ham: They view him as a star. I’ve had conversations within the walls. I asked the question, would youtrade him for Lauri Markkanen last season? The answer was “No. We believe he’ll be better than Markkanen.” So that should tell you everything that you need to know about what they feel about him as a player. -via HoopsHype / January 10, 2024
Sources have confirmed to James Ham of Kings Beat (subscription required) that the Kings have made calls around the league to gauge the trade value of Kevin Huerter and Davion Mitchell. Jake Fischer reported Friday that both players, along with Harrison Barnes, could be on the move before the deadline. -via Hoops Rumors / January 7, 2024
The Kings have been calling opposing front offices to gauge the value of packaging Harrison Barnes and Kevin Huerter, league sources told Yahoo Sports. Not exactly the youthful tandem that came back from New York, and Sacramento won’t consider moving sophomore sharpshooter Keegan Murray, sources said. But Sacramento has third-year guard Davion Mitchell available for trade, and the Kings hold future picks beyond this year’s first rounder owed to Atlanta to help facilitate any deal before next month’s deadline. Huerter, it should be noted, was recently moved to Mike Brown’s bench in exchange for Chris Duarte. -via Yahoo! Sports / January 5, 2024
Davion Mitchell is considered a strong trade candidate with the Kings, league sources told Yahoo Sports, as the third-year guard continues seeing limited minutes in Sacramento’s rotation. -via Yahoo! Sports / December 15, 2023
