A women's group has mounted spirited opposition to a prospective nomination of former Secretary of the Treasury Lawrence Summers, 57, to be president of the World Bank. The group, UltraViolet, which claims 300,000 members, announced collecting more than 42,000 signatures against Summers given his past history of slighting women economists - including Christine Romer, 53, another prospective nominee - as well as women's proficiency for the sciences.

For the New York Jets, trading for Tim Tebow was a mistake. It has nothing to do with how good or bad Tebow is. His slow delivery and inability to complete more than half of his passes aren't relevant. His good guy demeanor, Christian values and ability to bring people together don't count. His impressive record as a starter, his knack for the improbable comeback isn't what needs to be discussed. His arrival drives a wedge into a fractured locker room and a fractured fan base and that will be the anchor that sinks the Jets season.
