Beulah Mae Mitchell was on the first Barbie production line at Mattel before becoming one of the first Black employees at the company’s corporate offices. In a new documentary, she reveals the journey to creating the first Black Barbie – and how it was about so much more than hair, clothes and Ken. Sheila Flynn reports
