Two Ville Platte men arrested on attempted murder charges

Two wanted men were found and arrested in Ville Platte on attempted murder charges.

VILLE PLATTE, La. (KLFY) – Two wanted men were found and arrested in Ville Platte on attempted murder charges.

According to the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office, detectives received information on the location of two fugitives on Tuesday. 

Tylan Thomas, 21, and Jaylen Thomas, 22, both of Ville Platte, were wanted on the following charges:

Tylan - Attempted first degree murder (2), Illegal use of weapons, Illegal possession of stolen things
Jaylen - Attempted first degree murder (2), Illegal use of weapons, Accessory after the fact of 2nd degree murder

Both subjects were seen inside a silver Chevy Impala, parked at a residence in the 700 block of MLK Drive in Ville Platte. The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office drone was deployed to the location and was seen leaving this residence. The drone was able to follow the vehicle to the 700 block of Court Street, where the vehicle parked again with the two suspects inside. 

Evangeline Parish Deputies, City Police, and City Marshalls immediately went to this location and apprehended Jaylon Thomas without incident. Tylan Thomas ran away, but was eventually found and apprehended a short time later, hiding under a residence in the 200 block of W. Hickory Street.

After the arrest was made, detectives obtained a search warrant for the vehicle and found an AR-15 style rifle, a 9mm handgun, and illegal narcotics.

This investigation is still ongoing and more charges will be added.
