Carencro High student killed in shooting while exiting school bus
The Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office is on the scene of a shooting where a student was shot.
UPDATE, 5:14 P.M.: According to the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office, the teen shot, identified as Carencro High student Jaylon Joiner, 18, has died.
ORIGINAL, 3:57 P.M.: LAFAYETTE PARISH, La. (KLFY) – The Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office is on the scene of a shooting where a student was shot.
According to the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office, deputies got a call about a shooting in the 200 block of Bradford Drive just after 3 p.m. On arrival, deputies found a male with a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital and said to have life-threatening injuries.
An initial investigation shows the victim was shot while exiting the school bus. One person has been detained by deputies, but it is believed several suspects were involved. The victim is believed to be a teen. Carencro Middle is currently on lockdown.
