The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office reported they are investigation a drive-by shooting in which one woman was killed.

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KLFY) -- The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office reported they are investigation a drive-by shooting in which one woman was killed.

CPSO said deputies responded to W. Tank Farm Road in Lake Charles in regards to a shooting around 7:45 p.m. on Saturday. Upon initial investigation, officials said a drive-by shooting occurred with multiple rounds being fired. One of the bullets traveled through a nearby residence, a struck a woman inside.

The victim, Annette D. Touvell, 65, of Lake Charles, was transported to a local hospital where she later died. Further investigation into the incident revealed another home in the area was also struck, but no one inside the home was injured.

Sheriff Tony Mancuso said they have no reason to believe Touvell's home and family were a target in the shooting.

“We have no reason to believe this home or family was specifically targeted during the shooting. My heart goes out to the victim’s family; this is a sad and tragic situation where an innocent victim lost their life to a senseless crime,” said Mancuso. “Detectives are currently following up on several leads, as well as canvassing the neighborhood for further video footage and possible evidence.”
