Lafayette Pizza Hut heavily damaged by late-night fire
Fire officials went to the Pizza Hut at 1:36 a.m., and once they got there, flames were coming through the roof of the business.
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY)-- Firefighters had to battle a commercial fire at the Pizza Hut located at 4404 Ambassador Caffery in Lafayette.
Fire officials went to the Pizza Hut at 1:36 a.m., and once they got there, flames were coming through the roof of the business. Once crews got into the building, they noticed the fire spreading in a space above the ceiling, according to the Lafayette Fire Department.
The Pizza Hut suffered from heavy fire damage. It took firefighters about 30 minutes to tame the flames. Fire crews initially showed up to the Pizza Hut Saturday night around 9:14 p.m. when the employees reported smoke seeping through the air vents and a smell and light haze in the restaurant.
Emergency crews shut the power off to one of the unites after investigating the HVAC system, and the restaurant was cleared out, according to LFD.
