Woman claims tree company is not fulfilling its promises
A woman is seeking help in Iberia Parish after she says she is being wronged when a tree service company allegedly is not fulfilling what she paid them to do.
IBERIA PARISH, La. (KLFY) -- A woman is seeking help in Iberia Parish after she says she is being wronged when a tree service company allegedly is not fulfilling what she paid them to do.
Precious Phillips bought her house in 2022 and recently decided to remove the tree in her front yard. She contacted a local tree service company, L&L service, expecting the job to get done quickly. Now, she is left with a pile of debris in her yard with tree still there a week later.
"I was told the size of my tree would have took anywhere between four to six hours to get down with the full crew and a man lift and here I am," said Phillips.
Phillips hired L&L to remove the tree after noticing a root growing into her home. Phillips said workers came out to get the job done but never finished due to bad weather. She continued to call after not hearing back from L&L. She was then notified by a friend she is not the only customer of the company who has experienced similar issues. Being out $1300, Phillips says this is a lesson learned for projects she is looking to do in the future.
"I've cried every day since last week. I've disputed the transactions. I don't know if they're you know, I just don't know where to turn at this point, because if you're getting paid to do a job, then of course you need to do the job. So, I mean, it's like, what are the intentions going into the job," said Phillips.
According to the Better Business Bureau's website, L&L Tree Service has an F rating as far as the standards the bureau holds with multiple complaints from customers having similar stories to Phillips. Chris Babin with the BBB says to use their resources when making decisions about who you should hire for services.
"A company with an f rating obviously is not meeting those standards and all that would be good information to know and use as part of that buying decision before you figure out what company you want to do business with," Babin said.
We reached out to L&L for a comment and they say they have full intentions on being able to get the job done for Phillips, but outside factors have prevented them from getting the job done so far.
