Two people arrested in Acadia Parish on multiple narcotics and weapons charges
A vehicle pursuit led to the arrest of two people in Acadia Parish on multiple narcotics and weapons charges.
CROWLEY, La. (KLFY) -- A vehicle pursuit led to the arrest of two people in Acadia Parish on multiple narcotics and weapons charges.
The Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office said a vehicle pursuit on Thursday, Feb. 29, resulted in the arrest of two people. Officials said the suspects were able to evade law enforcement during the pursuit, but were later arrested at a hotel in Crowley.
Once arrested, deputies said they applied for search warrants for the vehicle and hotel room used by the suspects. During a search of the hotel room, authorities said they were able to recover 300 grams of heroin and fentanyl with a street value of $30,000.
The suspects arrested have been identified as Daniel Smith, 41, of Vidalia and Lindsey Touchet, 40, of Lake Arthur. They were charged with the following:
Daniel Smith:
- Obstruction of justice
- Possession with the intent to distribute Heroin and Fentanyl (2 counts)
- Resisting an officer
- Possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance
- Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
Smith's bond has been set at $300,000.
Lindsey Touchet:
- Obstruction of justice
- Possession with the intent to distribute Heroin and Fentanyl (2 counts)
- Resisting an officer
- Possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance
Touchet's bond has been set at $235,000.
