People escape, dog dies in early morning Four Corners mobile home fire
Two people escaped a mobile home fire in the Four Corners area of St. Mary Parish early Tuesday morning, but their family pet was not so fortunate, authorities said.
ST. MARY PARISH, La. (KLFY) -- Two people escaped a mobile home fire in the Four Corners area of St. Mary Parish early Tuesday morning, but their family pet was not so fortunate, authorities said.
The fire destroyed the home on Jacob Lane, from which the two residents emerged unharmed, but officials said the family lost its dog in the blaze. No injuries were reported to firefighters.
St. Mary Parish Fire District 11 Chief Clarence Clark said electrical issues are suspected to be the cause of the fire, as firefighters found faulty equipment between the utility pole and the residence.
"CLECO has been called and they're going to be investigating on their side," Clark said.
In addition to Fire District 11, Baldwin, Jeanerette, Franklin and Chitamacha fire departments responded to the fire, Clark said.
