Grambling defeated Texas Southern 75-66 in the SWAC Championship game to punch their ticket to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history.

GRAMBLING, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — It's been a historic season for Grambling men's basketball, but it's not over yet for the Tigers.

On Saturday night, GSU defeated Texas Southern 75-66 in the SWAC Championship game to lock in their first conference tournament title and punch their ticket to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history.

"Enjoy the moment," said Grambling head coach Donte' Jackson. "Enjoy the moment and take it all in, because this is not promised to everybody. There are only 68 teams that are going to be able to say they got a chance to do this. Enjoy it, have fun, and just leave it on the court."

The G-Men held a NCAA Selection Show watch party on Sunday to find out who they'll face in their first ever trip to the Big Dance.

The Tigers will take on Montana State University in the First Four on Wednesday, March 20 in Dayton, Ohio at 5:40 p.m. CT.

A leader on the court for GSU is Jourdan Smith. The senior says that the Tigers' have known that they could put together a season like this, all they had to do was bring it to fruition.

"We've had those vibes even before the season started," explained Smith. "We've had a team group chat called back-to-back champs' since before the season started. We already knew what was going on, we just had to make it happen and continue to produce."

Shreveport native Tra'Michael Moton has been a weapon for GSU on the court. He is excited for the Tigers to display their talent on such a big stage.

"It's great for us to do this on a bigger stage and show everybody our talent," said the Woodlawn High School alumni. "I know I'm making [my hometown] proud and they're behind me 100%."

The winner between Grambling State and Montana State will advance to play No. 1 seeded Purdue.
