Sinkhole causes concern in St. Landry Parish
In Washington, a sinkhole has caused road closures on La-10, creating an inconvenience for drivers while also causing concern from residents and business owners in the area.
WASHINGTON, La. (KLFY) -- In Washington, a sinkhole has caused road closures on La-10, creating an inconvenience for drivers while also causing concern from residents and business owners in the area.
The closure has caused drivers to change their commute to work, even challenging parents and students at North Central High School as the road leads directly to the parking lot.
Resident Dona Morain says this is not the first-time damages to the road on LA-10 has been an issue.
"That's the second or third time they fix that area right there, and this is the worst it's been," said Morain.
While not only making it harder for drivers to get to their destination, business owners like Corey Vidrine who delivers furniture says the road closure may cause business to decrease in the coming days while also adding time to his deliveries as the alternate route on La-359 is also in need of repairs.
"359 is notorious. The locals, we all drive down the center line because the patch works crack within a couple of months. It's just crazy, I've watched the little bit of patch work just get destroyed. These roads just need to be redone," Vidrine explained.
While repair work is still being done to the roadway, the hope is that a more permanent solution can be found in the near future.
