EVANGELINE PARISH, La. (KLFY) -- An arrest has been made by Louisiana State Police in connection with an incident in which an agent of the Louisiana Fepartment of Wildlife and Fisheries fired his gun attempting to arrest a Turkey Creek man.

State Police investigators have arrested Johnny Clark, 43, of Turkey Creek on the following charges:

  • Attempted first-degree murder
  • Attempted disarming of a peace officer
  • Battery on a peace officer

On Feb. 12, LSP said an enforcement agent with LDWF was conducting surveillance on a residence located in the 5200 block of Crooked Creek Parkway in Ville Platte. The subject, Clark, was wanted for a felony warrant issued by LDWF.

Investigators said the agent encountered Clark in a wooded area near the residence. Clark then fled the area, entered his house and armed himself. While inside the house, a family member gained possession of Clark’s firearm. Clark then fled the house, entered a parked vehicle in the yard and tried to leave.

Authorities said the agent then entered the vehicle in an attempt to prevent Clark from leaving. An altercation occurred, in which Clark attempted to disarm the agent. At some point in the altercation the agent’s firearm discharged striking the driver side door. Neither party was injured from the firearm.

Clark was booked into the Evangeline Parish Jail. Bond details were not released.
