Nice weekend ahead, strong storms Monday night

We'll see mostly sunny skies through the weekend with highs in the low-mid 70s each afternoon. Some cool mornings as well, with temperatures in the lower 50s this morning and in the upper 40s to lower 50s Sunday morning.

South winds will begin to ramp up tomorrow in response to an approaching trough, which will give us a storm chance on Monday. As the trough approaches the area, wind shear will get stronger in the atmosphere, meaning winds will both turn and get stronger with height. This leads to the threat of hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes in storms capable of tapping into these ingredients. As it stands now, the timing looks to be Monday evening and into early Tuesday morning.

The weather forecast looks to improve for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday--with highs in the lower 70s and lows in the upper 40s to lower 50s.
