New officers from the Oakland Police Department 183rd basic recruit academy took an oath Friday during their graduation ceremony at Scottish Rite Temple in Oakland. A total of 32 officers, including two Bay Area Rapid Transit and two Fremont police officers, received their badges. Acting police Chief Darren Allison was on hand after former police chief Anne Kirkpatrick was fired Thursday night by the Oakland Police Commission and Mayor Libby Schaaf.
