No egg hunt, but Campbell’s Easter parade is happening

Eggstravaganza on hold this year.

Egg hunt a no-go

After 41 years, the annual Easter egg hunt the Campbell Community Center has been put on hold.

“The Eggstravaganza Easter Egg Hunt is an event produced by the Campbell Kiwanis Club and was spearheaded by one person, J.R. McKee, whose community contributions to the Campbell area community runs a mile long,” reads a post on the Downtown Campbell Business Association’s website. “He made that Easter egg hunt happen for many of its 41 years, and he decided that last year’s hunt would be his last.

“The Campbell Kiwanis Club and their friends haven’t found anyone to keep the event going so there won’t be an egg hunt this year, but there are conversations happening to explore possibilities of bringing the event back next year.”

Families looking for things to do before the 23rd annual Bunnies and Bonnets Easter Parade starts on Saturday, March 30, can come to downtown Campbell, where there’ll be sidewalk chalk and bubbles for kids to play with before the parade starts at noon.

The Easter parade tradition features marching bands, dancers, animals, community groups and local organizations. The parade will start at the east end of downtown by the VTA light rail tracks and run along Campbell Avenue to Third Street. It will be held rain or shine.
