UN-UNICEF GoodWill ambassador visits Mama Lucy Hospital.
UN- UNICEF GoodWill ambassador has today visited mama Lucy Kibaki hospital to see the progress of the oxygen plant which was installed by the UNICEF in partnership with the Nairobi county government to aid in saving lives of the newborns and other patients in the hospital.
The oxygen plant supplies oxygen to the newborn unit, pediatric acute room, theatre and Accidents and emergency units.
The oxygen plant is a public-private partnership program of Nairobi county government, UNICEF, Department For international Development(DFID) and HewaTele group.
Currently, the oxygen piping is ongoing to cover the proposed ICU.

Speaking during the visit, Mama Lucy hospital medical superintendent Dr Musa Mohammed said the hospital is greatful for the installation of the plant which has saved the lives of newborns and other patients. He also thanked His Excellency the Governor for fast-tracking the commissioning of the plant in the medical facility.
The UNICEF team also visited the newborn unit and Kangaroo Mothers Unit.
"Mama Lucy hospital is the main referral hospital in the Eastlands. It serves mainly low socioeconomic status population". Said Dr Musa.
The hospital offers a wide range of medical services both curative and preventive.
