County Annual Development Plan forums kick off in earnest  

The County government on 17th August 2018 held its 6^th public participation on County Annual Development Plan forums since exception of devolution in the seventeen sub-counties. The forums, which kicked off at 9 am were well attended by the respective residents with their “need list” to the county administration.  The participatory meetings are geared towards formulation 2019/2020 budget, giving the residents an opportunity to incorporate their priorities for consideration.

According to the PFM Act, Part IV section 126(1) requires both long and medium-term plans beginning with integrated planning be subjected to public participation, which should be all-inclusive.

The County Director Economic Planning Mr Kepha Omanga urged Nairobians to walk the county’s chosen path in transforming the city to spur socio-economic growth. The County Economic boss added,   “The Government recognizes that sustainable development will remain elusive without harnessing the inalienable collective intelligence of the people. That is the reason that Governor Sonko administration places the top premium on effective citizen engagement in planning and making the investment decision.”  

A section of Mathare sub-county residents follows a discussion on Annual Development Plan at Undugu Social Hall.

A close check by the County Media Team in some of the sub-county forum venues noticed residents’ enthusiasm in contributing their views on the development plan.  

Mr Salim Wainaina from Hospital ward in Mathare sub-county said” The roads are in a bad state and become impassable during the rainy season. We call upon the county to construct the roads which will enhance our economic activities.”
