ODOT preparing for overnight winter weather
COLUMBUS (WCMH) — The Ohio Department of Transportation says it has 225 crews ready to hit the roads as winter weather moves through central Ohio.
ODOT says it will pre-treat ramps and bridges and temperatures drop.
“The cold air falls underneath and on top,” said Brooke Ebersole, ODOT District 6 Public Information Officer, about why ramps and bridges are given extra attention.
Crews will also work through the night plowing and salting to ensure a safe commute Friday morning.
“Our plow drivers are out moving snow off the road as its coming down but obviously when we keep plowing snow off and more comes down we have to come through and do it again so don’t expect roads to be perfect as snow is still coming down,” said Ebersole.
As always, ODOT says drivers should take it slow and allow for extra stopping distance.
“Roads that look slick may be icy and just look wet so make sure you’re using extra caution as you’re moving through those slick zones,” Ebersole said.
