Hello fellow RL fans,

Wire fan here who spent a lot of time travelling around watching RL in the 90s, home and away.

I am researching/putting together a book of Memories of Wilderspool, but someone suggested I expand it (if I can) to cover some of the other grounds we all have fond memories of, that held such an important place in our communities, now unfortunately lost to the bulldozers and property developers.

I'd be particularly interested in hearing from fans of Leigh... Читать дальше...

But the person bequeathing the inheritance has paid tax during the time they amassed the inheritance - surely that is unfair that the proceeds of potentially doing without conspicuous spending to invest in a property should be taxed once again?

The problem with your theory is that the whole economic system is routed in the value of property - if you have these type of assets you can borrow to invest to increase income and transactions. How many small businesses... Читать дальше...

The Virtual Terrace • Hull MP launches petition to 'save rugby league'

Hull East MP Karl Turner has launched a petition in a bid to get “specific, tailored support” for rugby league as the coronavirus crisis continues to put the squeeze on clubs.

With the sport on hold and uncertainty over when it will be safe to resume, a number of clubs have expressed concerns about the future of the game.

The furlough scheme has provided some welcome relief but... Читать дальше...

Yes, 2008.

I remember one of the main excuses banded about at the time of England's world cup performance was the ruck in SL was too quick and there was too much 'scooting' which meant they struggled to create anything when they came up against the slower rucks generated by Aus/NZ (although the standard of backs we had available at the time was pretty awful). We saw an almost immediate shift in what refs would all defenses to get away with at the play the ball, and it's been getting messier ever since. Читать дальше...

The big rumour around the time was that he been drunk and got lost in Perpignan airport. Anyone who has been there will realise he must have been reeeally drunk, cos that airport is tiny.

If true, of course.

To anybody on here... how do you expect to come out of this situation without some sort of herd immunity being used?

Unless, you all reckon that hiding in our homes until we get a vaccine is an actual solution?

With the magnitude of the missed conversion I think the actual vision to do the trick kick off in injury time and the try got overlooked a bit? Only just rewatched the Salford MPG and these things as fans hurt but we as a team had umpteen chances to avoid even being in that game and myriad reasons we went down if honest not just one moment. I found this documentary very good and the old players come across as real gents. My first real Cup final memories are of the Hull Wigan game in 85 I think? Читать дальше...

[quote="Clearwing"]I go back some 25 years before the start of SL but there are plenty on our board (and yours) who weren't born then, true.
I don't have a problem agreeing on the penalty try, I don't remember ever seeing one awarded where a try looked less like being scored or where a less obvious foul was committed. Should never have been given.
I've been lucky enough to see Leeds win a few finals since, in probably half there were turning points where a bad decision by the ref or a bad mistake by the opposition turned the game our way.

It disgusts me that the furlough system was brought in to help small businesses and yet you have liverpool who made over £40 million profit last year abusing the system, the government should put a stop to it football clubs should have to show genuine hardship to qualify and don't get me started on Daniel bloodu Levy, what an absolute leech

Yes, I don’t have money to burn to just give it away to the club for nothing. If games don’t go ahead it’s only fair people with tickets for them are refunded.

Some might not need or want the refund, but those who do shouldn’t be vilified for asking for it. Would people who buy tickets game by game be expected to pay still for games that don’t go ahead?

They had to leave Blackpool after new ground regs, brought in following the Bradford City fire in 1985, condemned wooden stands. Springfield was best option but the pitch took a battering and Athletic served then six months notice to leave. They first went to Chorley then Altrincham before returning to Blackpool in 1992.

They ran Leeds (22-12) and Salford (12-10) close in cups, finished one place off promotion to Division 1 and almost reached the second division Premiership Final. So they... Читать дальше...

Just watched this documentary and found it very moving. Had seen the clip of the missed conversion but wasn't aware of the events before or after until now.
Just felt compelled to write how powerful a programme they have produced here. Very fair to both sides and even the ref who gave a hugely contentious penalty try. Wondered how the Leeds and Wakey fans felt on watching that?

Although the promotion relegation issue has been "difficult" ever since SL began, one aspect of the game that is right at the moment is that there is a clear and unmuddied route into SL for all clubs in the Championship - unlike the smoke and mirrors of the licensing period and for this reason alone, for me, it should stay. The Virtual Terrace • Day 7: Who Am I?

Rugby League Supporters Association Online

Each day we will give you three clues to the identity of a player who has played in Super League (at some point since 1996). You have to work out who the player is from the clues and submit your guess. There may be more than one correct answer, but you have to get the one that we have sealed in a virtual envelope.

Once the player has been correctly guessed then we will post on the thread, the thread will stay open until he is guessed or everyone loses interest. We’ll keep a running tally of correct guessers. Читать дальше...
