Music for the Midlands
As it's Paul McCartney love song to his Liverpool neighborhood and early years, it got me thinking about songs written by the artist regarding their neighbourhood.
Liverpool has plenty including the above, ferry across the Mersey, strawberry Fields ect.
London has Waterloo sunset, hoover building, streets of London ect.
Newcastle - fog on the Tyne, big River ( Jimmy Nails beautiful song) ect
Manchester - dirty old town, other shit..
Even the baldy ginger fella sings about wetting his pants near a castle on the hill!
I could go on
What has Birmingham or the black country got from their artists over the years??!
I can't think of anything.
Ghost town was about Coventry and take me back home by Slade could have been anywhere.
The closest I have come is Clifford T Ward mentioning worcestershire.
Any one got anything else?
