If you have an interest in weirdshit then there's a few interesting videos, often audio only, on Youtube about the number of people vanishing from US National Parks. Bodies that do show up are nearly always missing the one or both items of footwear and there's often zero sign of animal predation to explain the deaths. Even accounting for people wishing to go missing by simply doing a bunk or accidents, the figure is now up to around 1000 over the past 3 decades or so.
The main guy working on it is an ex cop who had a couple of park rangers approach them and claim there's something weird going on, it's not just random accidents, people doing a bunk etc. With the government shutdown it will be interesting to see if there's a spike in new disappearances or not.
