The Christmas lull is over and some decent records are being put out again

1 Shame: enough has been said about these effing magnificent young un's

2 Lankum: new to me, probably not to you hipsters.....tough Irish folk as good as anything the old boys ever did.

3 Calexico: the new one.....as good as anything they've done, better than most they've done.

If that lot don't keep yer happy, yer incapable of happy.

Not been on Colmore Row drinking since the early nineties, is the Grand Hotel still there?

I’ve been told it’s quite the hip place to go now and being a hip kind of dude I’m thinking I need to show my face. Any not to be missed bars for this man about town?

Small Heath Alliance

Darkest Hour.

I don't know much about the historical accuracy, but this film was excellent. It focussed on Churchill's political struggle, largely with Chamberlain and some Lord (Halifax) regarding negotiating a peace with Hitler in 1939-40 or commitment to war, particularly around the time of the Dunkirk evacuation. It is really moving, dramatic but focuses mainly on the politics.

Its a bit like a complementary film to the recent Dunkirk film which was a brilliant film in the form of a survival movie, really. Читать дальше...

Don't think the hotel is open at the moment.

There are a couple of bars under the hotel and the old joint stock
Didn't the hotel open well into last year. Читать дальше...

Thought he was good at Blues but never thought he’d be good enough to settle in Utd’s first team. Fair play to the lad, he is smashing it this season.

Fantasy manager (3 replies)

Not historic, now. Not realistic manager. Has to be Pochettino for me. Intelligent, his teams play good football, doesn’t appear to have an inflated ego. Argentinian - proper football bloke from proper football nation.

What think you?

Minstrel Wanderers (10 replies)

Small Heath Alliance

Who remembers them? Every away ground toilet got plastered with their stickers. They had a Sunday league team too, no numbers on their backs but letters. They weren't any good and just pissed about all game.

Anyone on here a Wandering Minstrel?
