NASCAR announced today the formation of a youth esports racing series, the first esports competition created to attract and identify young talent. The series will be hosted on iRacing, the world’s premier racing simulation platform. Sauter- It should be no surprise that Sauter is back on top of the power rankings after winning the race at Dover. After starting second, he stayed in the top ten for the first stage by finishing fourth while he ended up winning the second stage. Late in the race, Noah Gragson and Sauter battled and swapped the lead multiple times until the last lap, where Gragson got loose underneath the 21 of Sauter with just two laps to go and ended up in the turn 3 wall.
Jimmie Johnson on continuing to improve: “We have to get better on Fridays to put ourselves in better positions on race days. Starting closer to the front would help us a ton. We are still making gains and I think within the next few weeks we will be where we want to be running. I look forward to Kansas this weekend, it’s been a great track for the No. 48.”
Matt Kenseth will make his 25th start at Kansas this weekend. The 39-time winner in the Cup series has two victories at the 1.5-mile oval along with seven top-five and 13 top-10 finishes.
KANSAS SPEEDWAY RACING SURFACE: "Kansas Speedway, a 1.5-mile racetrack, a couple of years ago got repaved," Allmendinger said. "The last two years it feels like the track has gone back to it's old ways, gotten really bumpy and really slick, especially the night race. The groove really widens out with the cars running from the middle to the bottom to the top."
