Roush Fenway Ready to Throw It Back at ‘The Track Too Tough to Tame’

One of the most anticipated weekends on the NASCAR circuit each year has arrived as the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) tackles the track ‘Too Tough to Tame’ as one of the final two races remaining before the playoffs begin. Roush Fenway Fords have 20 wins all-time across NASCAR’s three major touring series.

ISM Raceway is thrilled to announce that award-winning country music star Easton Corbin will headline the O’Reilly Auto Parts Pre-Race Party on Sunday, November 10, with a one-hour concert ahead of the Bluegreen Vacations 500 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Semi-Final race. Corbin will kick off the pre-race party when he takes the stage located between pit road and the track on Sunday morning.

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series and the Xfinity Series head to Darlington Raceway for the annual Throwback Weekend. This year the track will highlight the 1990-1994 era.

TEAM CHEVY AT DARLINGTON: Team Chevy Advance

Chevrolet has won 41 of the 115 races at the 1.366-mile venue dubbed “The Track Too Tough to Tame” and “The Lady in Black.” Twenty different Chevrolet drivers and teams have hoisted the winner’s trophy at the egg-shaped racetrack. That list includes Herb Thomas, who produced the Bowtie’s inaugural win at the track on September 5, 1955. He qualified eighth in a Chevrolet Bel Air with an SBC Chevy V8 engine and earned $7,480 for the victory in the 336-lap race that took 5 hours, 25 minutes.

Auto racing is the most over-regulated sport in the world. Germain Racing crew chief Matt Borland was suspended by NASCAR following a random drug test, reportedly for the mortal sin of drinking a particular type of coffee for the last six months.

NAPA THROWBACK: In June, the No. 9 team unveiled the throwback scheme via social media that will hit the track at Darlington Raceway this weekend. The ride mirrors the fourth-ever NASCAR Cup Series car of Chase Elliott’s father, NASCAR Hall of Famer Bill Elliott. Bill Elliott drove it while racing for his father, George Elliott, in the 1981 season. That year, Bill Elliott captured his first Cup Series pole at Darlington and earned seven top-10 finishes.
