Tottenham Hotspur are not only monitoring big names in the world of football, but are also identifying exciting young talent in Scandinavia of late, with Viktor Djukanovic the latest to be linked with the Lilywhites.
Spurs fans will already be buzzing about the impending arrival of Lucas Bergvall in North London this summer, with the Swedish prodigy already signed from Djurgardens.
But, we know Ange Postecoglou is keen to keep adding to his squad, with reinforcements expected in the forward areas and out wide.
Spurs look to Sweden again
The solution to that desire may well lie in Sweden’s Allsvenskan league, too, with Spurs keeping tabs on Hammarby attacker Viktor Djukanovic. The man from Montenegro is firmly on the radar of Tottenham’s technical director, Johan Lange, according to Fotboll Direkt.
Djukanovic has 14 goals in 39 games for Hammarby since joining last January (Transfermarkt), but just two of those goals have come this season.
Nevertheless, Spurs are keen on the 20-year-old, and it is thought Lange has monitored Djukanovic for about a year now. His development has impressed Tottenham, and the player is certainly looking like he will be available this summer.
The report reveals Hammarby rejected an offer of €8.6m (£7.3m) from Lazio in January. It is now the club’s “goal this summer” to receive a minimum of €12.9m (£11m) for their player, and that fee could go as high as €17.2m (£14.7m).
Apparently, Club Brugge, FC Lorient, and PSV Eindhoven have all been interested, with the latter joining Tottenham as the two clubs “still in the picture” the most when it comes to courting Djukanovic.
But, it is believed Djukanovic himself is willing to “bide his time” and wait for the right move.
Spurs Web Opinion
While I do like the fact we are keeping tabs on so many exciting young players, I really think we need to add a bit of experience to our squad, too. I don’t think Djukanovic would be ready for our first team yet.
