Neighbour keep blocking my driveway with his lorry – it’s making me so stressed and I want to move

DEAR DEIDRE: MY neighbours keep blocking our driveway so we have to do a lot of awkward manoeuvring to park next to our house.

They’ve only just moved in across the road.

He is a builder, so has got a big truck in addition to their two cars.

The cars are on their drive but he leaves his lorry on the opposite side of the road to them – overlapping the entrance for our drive, right outside our window.

I’m a woman of 50 and my husband is 53.

Whenever this neighbour moves his truck we put our car there. But as soon as we leave, he moves it so it is parked obstructing the end of our driveway again.

I wake up feeling stressed every morning and not wanting to go to work because I know I’ll have to do a ten-point turn to get on to my drive when I get back.

I now want to move.

DEIDRE SAYS:  By not addressing the issue directly and parking on the road where they do is really being passive-aggressive. It isn’t helping your stress and it’s prolonging the situation.

Why not invite them over for a coffee? Then ask whether you can talk to them about their truck and where best to park it, so that you can still have easy access to your drive.

It is your right to be able to access your own property, after all.
