Shocking CCTV shows husband wrestling ‘berserk’ German shepherd to the ground after it mauled his wife & their beagle
THIS is the shocking moment a professional dogwalker tackled a “berserk” German shepherd after it attacked his wife and their dog.
Terrifying footage shows a woman walking the powerful dog before it ran out-of-control towards Paul Jennings, his wife Sasithon and their beagle Cody.
The CCTV clip shows the German shepherd lunge at pair and viciously latch onto Sasithon’s calf on April 8.
But quick-thinking Paul, who owns Green Dog Ltd in Surrey, then wrestled the dog to the ground before further damage was done.
He posted the shocking video – filmed in Kingston-upon-Thames – on Facebook in an appeal to find the other dog owner.
The woman waited at the scene, but Paul and his wife left to seek help without getting her name and number.
Paul said: “A lady was approaching us. She was about 10 metres away when her German Shepard spotted our dog.
“It immediately started going berserk. She couldn’t control it and it broke free. I think she had a flimsy collar and lead – the type for a small dog.
“It went straight for our dog. My wife tried to stand in the way and it bit her leg then I somehow grabbed and threw the dog and managed to pin it down around the neck.
“I’ve no idea how I was not bitten. The owner then got the lead back on, and we hobbled around the corner.
“We didn’t want to try and approach her again for fear of her dog and we were out of sight around the corner by this point so we didn’t get her details.”
The couple went into a nearby shop and called an ambulance.
Sasithon was rushed to A&E where she was treated for four puncture wounds – and the next day was transferred to St George’s hospital for specialist treatment.
Three weeks on from the attack, the woman and dog have still not been identified.
Paul said: “The police told me that it would probably be seized and taken to police dog handlers who would test/train it, and quite probably make this dog to be muzzled by law in public.”
He added: “The point is not for them to get in any trouble with the law.
“We are dog lovers and that dog needs some training and the owner needs the correct handling equipment etc.”
A Met spokesperson said: “Police are investigating an incident in which a woman was bitten by a dog in Kingston on the evening of April 8.
“Enquiries continue. There has been no arrest.”
