We made a terrifying discovery in our luggage after flying back from holiday in Mexico

A COUPLE returned from an overseas break with a stowaway in their luggage — a huge tarantula.

Terrified James Mugridge “shrieked” and ran to find girlfriend Emma Forrester after discovering the monster.

The couple believe the 12cms-long arachnid must have frozen to death on their 13-hour flight home from Mexico.

James, 31, and Emma, 27, nervously attempted to scoop the creature out of the bag using a colander and a saucepan.

Eventually, they got it out with a pair of chopsticks at which point they realised it was dead.

The creature, thought to be a Mexican red rump, now sits in a Tupperware box on their kitchen table.

James said they are unsure what to do with it.

He told The Sun: “When I opened the bag and saw it, I was genuinely terrified.

“I did a man-shriek and ran into the garden to show Emma.

“I absolutely hate spiders and I certainly didn’t spot him when I packed and repacked my bag.”

James, of Topsham, Devon, said there were tarantulas “all over the wall” by their hotel pool in jungle on the Yucatan Peninsula.

The property consultant, who splashed out £3,000 on the holiday, added: “Emma did joke at one point, asking if we should take a tarantula home as a pet.

“Little did I know one would turn up in my luggage.

“Now we don’t know what to do with it. My mum, who is a biology teacher, suggested pickling it in a jar.”
