PEOPLE are only just realising that microwave rice packets have a secret hidden feature that stop them toppling over.
A mum-of-two took to TikTok to reveal her mind-blowing hack that could help you from making a mess when heating up rice packs.
The content creator, @laurenbrennan81, showed her followers how she keeps her microwaveable rice standing upright during the cooking process.
She captioned the handy post: “Today years old,” paired with a grimacing emoji.
The mum gently split the bottom of a rice bag, creating a rectangle surface on the bottom which kept it from falling over in the microwave.
Her video quickly racked up over 5000 likes and 40 comments and several viewers were left shocked by the neat trick and were keen to test it.
One wrote: “Wait, Noooooo,” teamed with a surprised emoji.
Another said: “I just had to check this omg!”
A third commented: “Mine was always falling over too!”
But not everyone was impressed: “But doesn’t it tell you to do that on the packet?” one person asked.
Lauren is known by her followers for posting baby content and life hacks and has amassed over 8000 likes on her page in total.
This comes after one woman shared the correct way to seal a bag of crisps to stop them from turning stale.
And all it takes is one simple fold – you start by pushing all the extra air out of the bag before folding a triangle from one of the top corners, bring inwards as far down as you can.
Then repeat the same thing on the opposite side before rolling the top of the packet down tightly.
In her TikTok video she submerged several white and coloured socks into a bucket before placing one on either side of a long plastic Flash mop head.
“Reuse your old or odd socks for cleaning,” she told viewers.
She then used the mop to wipe all her windows on the outside, coating it all in the solution.
