I’m a cleaning pro and these are the 10 mistakes you’re making around the house – stop using feather dusters now
WE ALL know the basics of cleaning, but one woman has shared the common mistakes people tend to make.
Taking to social media, the Melbourne-based cleaning expert shared: “Mistakes you might be making when cleaning”.
Over a video of a woman dressed in black cleaning her kitchen sink, they then listed the first mistake off, explaining that you shouldn’t use bleach on grout.
They continued by sharing that you shouldn’t put bicarbonate of soda on carpet, rub carpet stains, use blue glass cleaner on windows or dust with a feather duster.
The experts said people need to give their products some “dwell time” before wiping surfaces.
Another mistake often made in households is when people avoid cleaning their hoovers.
Meanwhile, they also don’t recommend cleaning windows in direct sunlight or simply spraying and wiping down the shower without further TLC.
In the caption of the video, they added: “One of the most common mistakes I see especially with the Insta accounts that share DIY cleaning recipes is the use of vinegar as an all purpose spray or floor cleaner. [sic]
“I’m just not a fan of it at all, there’s too many surfaces it has the potential to damage – stone / marble”.
People were quick to comment on the video as one person shared: “Magic eraser for grout!!!!! Genius!!!! Thank you!” [sic]
Another offered an 11th mistake people make as they said: “Cleaning the toilet with the same sponge you clean the sink with”.
And a third wrote: “I dust with a feather duster because I am shorter and lazy,” followed by a crying with laughter emoji.
The experts replied: “Whatever works for you is a – ok,” with a laughing emoji.
