Wells Fargo Championship betting odds, golf offers and expert tips for Quail Hollow
RORY MCILROY will be the centre of attention at this week’s Wells Fargo Championship, as he returns to a place where he has won three times in the past.
With the world’s top two golfers – Jon Rahm and Scottie Scheffler – both taking a week off, world No 3 McIlroy is also the highest ranked player in the field at Quail Hollow.
The Ulsterman is also the defending champion at the North Carolina course – well, sort of!
He won the Wells Fargo for the third time two years ago, and the event was switched to Potomac near Washington last year, so Quail Hollow could host the 2022 Presidents Cup.

Max Homa repeated his 2019 Quail Hollow victory with a two shot victory at Potomac, so the world No 7 is another player with a liking for this tournament.
And at around 25-1 he looks a more attractive proposition than hot favourite McIlroy, who has plenty of question marks against him.
He has not been seen in action since missing the cut at Augusta four weeks ago, and ducking out of the following week’s RCB Heritage meant he took a $3million hit for defying the new PGA Tour rules covering the ‘designated’ $20million events..
McIlroy did not offer any explanation for his absence from the Heritage, but told the Golf Channel this week that it was to support his “mental and emotional wellbeing”, after the crushing disappointment of his Masters flop.
You can understand why the four-time Major champion would want to avoid the limelight, after a NINTH failure to complete the career Grand Slam.
But it does make you wonder which Rory we will see at Quail Hollow.
The one who started the year with an impressive win in Dubai, and finished second at the Arnold Palmer and third in the World Match Play.
Or the one who checked out after 36 holes at the Players AND the Masters. At a best priced 15-2, the odds of the ‘good’ Rory showing up are not too tempting.

1. Choose Your Favorite Sportsbook – there are plenty to choose from and most have their own app or mobile site.
2. Make a Deposit – each sportsbook will walk you through how to connect your bank account to their system including providing a list of all the safeguards they have set up to ensure the safety of your transactions.
3. Claim Your Bonuses – most sportsbooks offers bonuses to first time bettors in the form of free bets.
4. Place Your Bet – now it’s time to navigate through your sportsbook’s odds where they will offer a variety of options including outright winners, or top finishing positions, such as top 10 or 20, or even to make the cut. For the event this week each way odds are generally paid on the top eight players.

Who is the favourite to win Wells Fargo?
Rory McIlroy is as short as 7/1 in some places despite playing for the first time since his missed cut at the Masters.
With Jon Rahm and Scottie Scheffler both skipping this week, McIlroy is the short-priced favourite ahead of Patrick Cantlay 12/1, Xander Schaufelle 16/1, Tony Finau 16/1 and Cameron Young 18/1.
Where to find the best odds for Wells Fargo?
Lots of bookmakers have different options for betting on Wells Fargo, including competitive odds and different place markets.
We like the markets on bet365, including the price boosts on offer pre-tournament.
But it is worth shopping around to get the best value with each way odds and different places available throughout the market.
What does the winner of the Wells Fargo Championship get?
This is another designated event so a top share of the $20million purse, which works out to £3.6m.
Wells Fargo tips
Course form is clearly a big plus at Quail Hollow, a big track that favours the big hitters. But surprisingly, last week’s winner, Tony Finau, has struggled here.
And with a potential comedown after a successful head-to-head with the red-hot Rahm in Mexico, Finau is also passed over.
Viktor Hovland continues to give the impression a big win is just around the corner.
He finished third to McIlroy here in 2021, and at 20-1 he looks like the best value in the group at the top of the market – although the big-hitting Cameron Young pushes him close, also at 20-1.
Bet on Viktor Hovland or Cameron Young with BetVictor
Keith Mitchell shared third with Hovland two years ago, and is another player who has been knocking on the door recently.
Odds of 50-1 are about right, but I prefer the 80-1 on offer for former US Open champion Gary Woodland.
He definitely belongs in the bombers category, and is in much better form than when he finished a close fifth at Quail Hollow a couple of years ago.
There are a few players at fancy prices who have played well here in the past – including 250-1 chance Ben Martin and 400-1 longshot Lanto Griffin.
Martin finished a shot outside the top ten in 2021, and is on a hot streak. He has made the cut in his last eight starts, and posted three top tens.
Griffin is playing on a medical exemption, and is starting to show signs of the form that earned him the Houston Open title during a stellar 2019 campaign.

He shot three rounds in the 60s in Mexico last week. Only a ragged 77 in round three denied him a third successive top twenty finish.
And finally a word for 200-1 shot Cameron Champ, who went one better than Griffin with four sub-70 rounds in Mexico, where he finished in a share of 8th.
The three-time PGA Tour winner is currently tied third on the PGA Tour’s long driving list, and when he really gives it a rip he can give top dog McIlroy a run for his money. He could be in for another good week.
