I’m a Camilla lookalike and even a Royal photographer mistook me for the future Queen

“CAMILLA!” The loud scream seemed to shake Windsor Castle to its 950-year-old foundations.

Mum Victoria Shaw was ambling along listening to the audio edition of Prince Harry’s book Spare when she spotted the woman who will be crowned Queen on Saturday.

Shouting her name, she sprinted across the castle’s Long Walk and gave King Charles III’s wife a hug.

When Victoria saw The Sun’s legendary royal photographer Arthur Edwards taking photos she was convinced it was a royal walkabout.

She had in fact met Jane Mosse, Britain’s best — and busiest — Camilla lookalike who The Sun took on a tour of Windsor as the royal town prepared for the Coronation.

And when Arthur first met retired head teacher Jane he was also stunned at her resemblance to Camilla.

As Jane opened the door wearing a tiara she inherited from the late Queen’s own lookalike, Arthur said: “Oh my God, you are just like her. You could be twin sisters.”

‘My diary is crackers’

In fact Jane is so like Camilla that when Arthur was taking photos he kept addressing her as Ma’am just as he does when on assignment with the Queen.

Jane, 70, from Guernsey, told him: “I like being called Ma’am. I could really get used to it.”

While Camilla’s double posed for Arthur in her “coronation dress” in the hotel lounge, Sun readers Tom and Margaret McCartney from Erith, Kent, could not believe their eyes.

Retired bookbinder Tom, 81, said: “She looks so much like the real Camilla.”

Jane has worked as a Camilla lookalike since 2011, the year William and Kate were married at Westminster Abbey.

A spoof video she featured in for phone company T-mobile of “Charles and Camilla” dancing in the aisle at the wedding has been viewed 29million times. She has also appeared on Harry Hill’s Tea Time, Lorraine and in a Bollywood movie.

Catherine Tate even teamed her up with a Tom Jones lookalike in Netflix mockumentary, Hard Cell.

And in the past few months Jane has never been busier.

She says: “The popularity of lookalikes is reflected in what is going on in the real Royal Family.

“Since Her Majesty passed away Camilla became the focus and my work has upped a gear.

“Because of the Coronation there has been so much more work. My diary is going crackers.”

Our Sun royal tour began on the Long Walk where Victoria, from nearby Slough, was still not 100 per cent sure whether she had met the real Queen or her doppelganger. Victoria said: “I couldn’t stop myself running over and giving her a hug. Are you sure she’s not the real one?”

Jane says: “Making people smile is one of the nicest parts of the job. The strange thing is even when people know you’re not the real deal they still behave as though you are.”

While on the Long Walk, Arthur took Jane by the hand and began dancing just as he did with Camilla, when the then Duchess of Cornwall visited a tea party and swing dance run by the Royal Voluntary Service six years ago in Bristol.

Camilla met David Campbell, 58, who lives in Windsor while he was walking his Yorkshire terriers Joy and Winnie outside the Guildhall where the real Charles and Camilla were married in 2005.

David told Jane: “You have grace just like the real Camilla.”

Taking the weight off her feet in the historic Two Brewers Pub, Jane, in a Jacques Vert dress suit, revealed where she buys her regal costumes.

World War II pilot’s daughter Jane says:: “Being Camilla doesn’t come cheap so I buy second-hand mother-of-the-bride outfits on eBay.

“My engagement ring is a £15 replica made by Asda when Charles and Camilla got engaged.

“You study your doppelganger, taking in all the detail. Camilla used to wear her watch strap on her right wrist, now she has it on her left. You have to keep your eye on things.”

Nearly 30 years ago in a tea shop Jane, who is married to Richard, 78, realised she resembled Prince Charles’s mistress when a woman told her ‘you look like Camilla Parker Bowles’.

But not everyone we met in Windsor was convinced. Two friends from Rochester, Kent, saw Jane being photographed in the High Street.

Annette Read turned to her pal Claire Hill and said: “What is Camilla’s double doing here with an Arthur Edwards lookalike?”

Bursting into gales of laughter Jane told Arthur: “I don’t know whether being the Queen’s lookalike will continue after the Coronation but it’s been a joy so far.”
