I’m a cleaning pro – the hoover bag trick I swear by to make your pad smell amazing and hacks that’ll make guest go wow
HAVING guests over can be a stressful event. You might even find yourself frantically cleaning to make sure it’s presentable.
But all of that effort goes to waste if your home smells a little off… And worse, people notice.
Luckily, Danielle Mason, a model-turned-cleaning expert, has some handy tips to ensure you’re never left with an awful stench in the house.
The blonde beauty, who is known as @daniellemasonuk on social media, told The Sun’s Fabulous: “When you have a good smell, it makes the house immediately feel clean.”
The one number hack she recommends for people who are deep into the cleaning frenzy is using Zoflora with the hoover.
“I always take my vacuum bag and pour a few dabs of Zoflora on it,” she explained. “That way, you don’t get any bad smells coming from the hoover when it’s on.”
She added that when you do go around the house with the hoover, you’ll end up leaving a trace of fresh scents behind you.
This isn’t the only cleaning hack Danielle, who has just finished her own show at Ideal Home Show, has up her sleeve though.
She explained that another use for Zoflora is when you clean the sofas. Instead of washing them, she instructed people to use a microfiber cloth with a dab of Zoflora and water.
“Rub this over the sofa and it’ll automatically smell like clean linen while also killing bacteria,” she shared.
Baking soda, Danielle said, is also a good ingredient to use when trying to absorb bad smells.
“You could use it on urine, sick, dog smells… It gets rid of it rather than hiding the smell,” she said.
Danielle continued: “Wax melts are great, too,” before adding that Yankee candles can give a “calm effect” over the house.
You can also kill smells by chopping a lemon up and adding it to a bowl with some hot water.
“Put it in the microwave for three minutes, it’ll make the kitchen smell great and lemony,” she shared.
It won’t matter how hard you try to mask a smell though if your bin is harbouring some bad odours.
For this, Danielle said you should get a cotton wool bud and essential oils, “drop it at the bottom of the bin before you put the bin liner in”.
