I’m size 18 with a big booty & tested the high-street’s denim shorts…there’s an £8 pair that stop chub rub
AS the weather gets warmer, many of us will be frantically searching through our wardrobes for clothes for the Summer season.
But if your denim shorts from last year are looking a bit worse for wear, you’ll want to listen up.
We asked body confident babe, Elizabeth Carley-Leonard, who posts on TikTok under the name @elisabeth.carleyleonard, to try out and review a selection of denim shorts from the high-street.
From Leicester, Elisabeth, who is five foot 8 and and a size 18 with 36E boobs, told Fabulous: “It is almost hot girl summer and hot girl summer is never, ever, to just be for the skinny girls.
“And we are not using the words, ‘I am going to wait until I lose weight for that’, so today, I’m going to do a try on haul with some new-in bits.
“It’s so hard to find nice fitting shorts as a curvy girl, honestly.
“Denim can be a bit unforgiving when you’re a curvy girl, so let’s see how these size 18 shorts look on my five foot eight body.”
Here, Elisabeth put to the test and shared her thoughts on the denim short offerings from the likes of Sainsbury’s, Marks and Spencer, Primark and New Look – so you don’t have to…
M&S, £27.50
First up, Elisabeth modelled a pair of white denim shorts from M&S.
She said: “These are UK size 18, boyfriend shorts.
“Ok so they go on nicely, they do up nicely – however, I feel like they are really tight in the thighs.
“I’m not loving and they’re a little bit too loose on the waistband and too tight on the thighs.
“So it’s a no from me, they are just unflattering.”
Tu, £15
Following this, the body confident babe then modelled a pair of denim shorts from Tu.
She added: “These are a runner short, UK size 18 from Tu.
“Hmmm, immediate reaction is yes they do up, but they feel tight.
“I just don’t love the cut of these from me.
“They’re a no.”
New Look, £19.99
After this, Elisabeth put a pair of New Look denims to the test.
She continued: “I usually have really good luck with New Look sizing, I feel like their cuts just fit my body type really nicely so fingers crossed these are a win.
“These are your standard, size 18 denim.
“What I love about New Look is that they don’t size small. These are super comfortable.
“However, there’s quite a bit of room in them so I would definitely size down.
“Apart from them being a bit too big, I have no other quarms.
“I like the cut, I like where they sit, there’s enough space in the legs.
“It’s a win for me, I would just size down.”
Primark, £8
Finally, Elisabeth tried on a pair from Primark, leaving her extremely impressed.
She noted: “Finally, the denim short mid-rise [shorts].
“Immediately easy [to do up], in love with these.
“The material is thin but also stretchy.
“There’s loads of space in the legs.
“I could walk a good length without the chub rub getting to me.”
