Moment stubborn motorcyclist REFUSES to move in dramatic stand-off with bus – whose side are you on?
THIS is the moment a stubborn motorcyclist refuses to move in a dramatic stand-off with a bus.
The fuming man brought traffic to a standstill as he parked his bike in the middle of the road in Houghton-le-Spring near Sunderland.
In a video posted to TikTok, he can be seen dismounting the bike before banging on the driver’s window and shouting.
After motioning to cars stacked up behind the bus to reverse, he stands defiantly by his parked bike.
One car driver queued behind the bus eventually loses his patience and makes a drawn-out U-turn.
Grins of disbelief can be seen on passers-by turning their heads to check out the bizarre incident.
The video ends before the stand-off ended, but it is understood that Northumbria Police were not called.
A parked car can be seen obstructing the other side of the road in the video, leading to speculation that the bus may have swerved into the oncoming lane – blocking the motorbike’s way.
People were divided over who was at fault in the dramatic stand-off.
One said: “The bike is on the right side of the road. The bus should reverse, end of.”
Another noted: “The Highway Code says to give way to buses.”
While a third added: “The car parked facing the wrong way is at fault.”
Rule 223 of the Highway Code states drivers should give priority to buses when they can do so.
Large vehicles may need extra road space to turn or deal with a hazard you are not able to see – so you should be prepared to stop and wait.
It comes after a cyclist narrowly avoided being hit by a passing van – but people are divided over who’s in the wrong.
And an HGV smashed into an Audi on a main road after the driver stopped suddenly “for no reason” – but opinion is split about who’s to blame.
