Carol Vorderman sparks fakery row as she reveals secret I’m A Celeb feature not seen on screen
CAROL Vorderman has spilled the beans on secrets from inside the camp – including why campmates never get wet when it rains.
Kruger National Park was hit by a torrential storm last night, leaving the stars fearing they would be hit by lightning as rain threatened to wash the camp away.
Carol has now revealed the I’m A Celeb camp is protected from the elements by a huge retractable canopy.
“There’s a canopy which is really there to stop the sunshine – fierce sunshine in South Africa,” the TV personality said during an Instagram Live.
Carol said that a small canvas canopy covers the camp when the weather turns torrential – but you’re still at risk of getting soaked.
“It’s only thin, parachute material,” she continued.
“This canopy was filling up with water and leaking water. My bed ended up like a swimming pool.”
In scenes which played out last night, the campmates were left wet and miserable as it poured down.
Myleene Klass squealed as she heard the thunder, while Joe Swash exclaimed: “It’s like Lord of the Flies!”
Georgia Toffolo said: “The lights start flickering and then the lights go out. The lightning is all around us. The thunder is so loud.”
As the storm moved directly overhead the women yelled.
Janice screamed: “The lightning is cracking right over head of us. I don’t want to sleep out there.”
Toff added: “It’s bad. It’s a big bad storm.”
The celebs all dived to grab their bedding and rucksacks to try and get under cover.
Phil Tufnell took shelter in the Bush Telegraph.
He reported: “It was great fun. We sprung into action. We did well. We did well as a team to protect the area and it sort of worked.”
