Dad branded ‘walking red flag’ after brutal thing he did at son’s birthday party that made his wife ‘cry like a baby’

A DAD has been branded a “walking red flag” for “smashing” his son’s first birthday cake into his wife’s face.

The married couple were hoping to see their son tear into the cake but the husband decided to play a prank on his wife instead.

However, his joke didn’t go down well and critics have accused him of being a “narcissist” and “walking red flag”.

Candie, 40, posted the video on her TikTok account and has since had to defend her husband after it reached three million views and thousands of people put their opinions forward.

In the video, the couple can be seen standing behind their tot’s high chair ready to sing happy birthday to him.

Before the cake has been put down, her husband can be heard asserting: “Just give him the cake.”

The family members behind the camera can be heard singing as the one-year-old is encouraged to “smash” his cake.

A smash cake is a small iced sponge that people give their childrens to dig into with their hands.

It is a popular way of celebrating in America but the practice is gaining popularity for first birthday photoshoots in the UK.

At the end of the video, the husband took the cake from his son’s high chair and pushed it into Candie’s face.

She penned in the caption: “The time I wanted to choke my husband for putting our son’s smash cake in my face surrounded by family I had just met for the first time.

“I had long looked forward to our son’s 1st birthday party and the family pictures.

“We didn’t get but one photo before I had to shower.

“Not sure why he thought this was a good idea.

“ I cried like a baby at the memories lost.

“The cake was even cut while I showered.

“If he does this ever again, he won’t live to talk about it.”

And while Candie can be seen giggling in the video and reaching her tongue out to lick the cake, viewers honed in on the fact she cried after the incident happened.

One said: “I watched this first without reading the context.

“Yes, I would’ve been mortified, hurt and embarrassed as well.

“Some people lack empathy – it’s sad.”

Another penned: “As a retired wedding photographer, going over pictures taken at the wedding, this was my #1 and only rule.

“No cake smashing in the face. Disrespect.”

Other viewers told her to notice the “red flags” and “run”.

Candie felt pressured to “answer questions about the situation and party”, so decided to upload a second video.

She said: “This thing has just become an animal of its own and just taken off.

“He is not by any means a s****y father.

“He’s a damn good daddy.

“We have our issues, absolutely, like any other married couple.”

Candie assured that she can now laugh about the situation and has accepted that it “sucked”.

People have jumped to comfort her following the backlash of her first video.

One woman said: “You don’t have to explain yourself. You will always get comments for both sides.

“As long as you’re good, take support, ignore hate.”
