I gave my old tan sofa a totally new lease of life for cheap… it was backbreaking but worth it, I call it ‘sofa rehab’
AFTER getting sick of the tan leather sofas in her living, one woman took the plunge and opted to give them a whole new lease of life on the cheap.
Known as Breh222 on social media, the woman documented the process in an informative video.
Taking the pillows off her couch, she used a colourant to change the leather from a deep tan to a slick black.
“Pt 2 saving the bank but breaking my back,” she wrote over this.
Wearing a black racerback crop top with matching leggings and styling her mane up into a sleek bun, she got to work smoothing the paint over.
Protecting her hands with black gloves, she put the colourant onto a sponge before spreading it over the leather in long, swift strokes.
She then used a small brush to colour the stitching that ran through the entire sofa, ensuring it’s uniform with the rest.
After finishing her large, two-seater sofa, she moved onto an armchair of the same tan colour.
@brehkelly appeared to add two coats of the colourant over the chair to get the desired effect in the TikTok video.
She ended the video by panning the camera over the room to show off the finished results of her hard work.
People were quick to share their thoughts on the transformation as one person said: “Dammm… you did a REALLY GREAT JOB!”
Another said: “It’s worth it Very cute!!!!” [sic] followed by a red heart emoji and a thumbs up emoji.
While a third added: “Stunning!”
Others asked her how she did it as one person questioned: “What’s the product name thank you very interested,” to which she replied: “Leather colourant from sofa rehab,” alongside a smiling emoji.
Another quizzed how she ensured the colourant wouldn’t transfer onto clothes.
Breh explained: “Nope! It’s a leather colourant, leather is porous so it soaks in – designed for this kinda stuff”.
Another warned her: “SAND LEATHER FIRST THEN SEAL AFTER STAINING !!!!!!” [SIC]
Breh responded: “I did, can see part of it in part1 – just a fun video”.
