I pay £260 a week to live in a buzzing city – but there’s a massive catch that’s left other renters fuming
RENTERS have been left horrified by the state of an apartment a woman pays more than £1,000 a month to live in.
She shared the countless issues with her flat in Sydney, Australia, on TikTok as the country’s rental crisis rumbles on.
The woman, who goes by @dooperfiend on the social media platform, shows how her bedroom is right on top of the kitchen, with no dividing wall.
To add to the bizarreness, the fridge can be seen stacked on top of the tumble dryer to “save space”.
Continuing with the chaoticness of the kitchen, she then shows how the ceiling is being held together by tape, while the sink is propped up by a bottle of curry powder.
But it doesn’t end there, with the kitchen bench badly broken and awful views of her neighbour’s gardens.
Moving onto the bathroom, she shows how a mirror has been strangely glued to the window while two random cables stick out of the wall.
And she is forced to sit on the loo sideways “just to have some left room”.
In the bedroom, the sliding wardrobe refuses to stay open as she claims the flat was built “on a lean”.
Her followers were left stunned by the countless problems with the apartment.
One user said: “The rental crisis is so real.”
Another commented: “Australian government be like well you’re breathing aren’t you?”.
A third wrote: “Kenn’s curry powder has helped many a meal in my time but I think it being structurally responsible for my kitchen crosses a line.”
While a fourth replied: “Report the landlord. Clearly unsafe.”
It comes after another landlord was slammed for listing a tiny makeshift room branded “smaller than Harry Potter’s cupboard” in Sydney.
The “room” – consisting of a single mattress on the floor surrounded by blanket walls – was put up for rent on Airbnb for £34.50 per night.
The landlord described it as a “rare spacious living room near the CBD.”
The ad read: “Affordable spacious living room, suitable for someone who can sleep in every condition.”
