Brit dad, 73, drowned on family holiday to Turkey minutes after wife left him on beach & went back to hotel
A BRIT dad has drowned while on a family holiday to Turkey minutes after his wife left him on the beach and went back to the hotel.
Philip Terrence Jarvis, 73, from Wales, went for a swim in the sea while at a holiday resort in Antalya.
The pensioner decided to go on a walk and take a dip before the tragedy unfolded in September last year.
His wife didn’t see him for around 30 minutes and assumed they would meet back at the hotel.
Shortly after, the couple’s son saw ambulances on the beach.
An inquest heard Phillip was found “unresponsive and motionless”.
Despite the best efforts from emergency services, he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
A post-mortem later found he died from drowning and advanced cardiovascular disease.
Coroner officer Catherine Burnell said: “Mr Jarvis was on holiday with his family.
“On September 9, 2022, he went for a walk along the beach and into the sea for a swim.
“His wife did not see him for around 30 minutes and went back to the hotel assuming he would meet her there.
“A short while later his son saw two ambulances attend the beach.
“He noticed paramedics were treating his father and he was told Mr Jarvis was found unresponsive and motionless in the water.
“Unfortunately despite the efforts of paramedics Mr Jarvis sadly passed away.
“The deceased was identified by his family on September 9, 2022.”
