TV prequel show axed after just ONE series amid string of cancellations
A TV prequel has been sensationally axed after just one series amid a string of cancellations.
Walker Independence will not be returning for a second instalment, in news that will leave fans devastated.
The series followed Abby Walker, an affluent and tough-minded Bostonian whose husband is murdered.
Following the horrific ordeal, she soon arrives in Texas and quickly encounters diverse residents who appear to be keeping their own secrets.
Throughout the first series viewers watched as Abby attempted to seek justice for her husband’s unjust killing.
During this journey she ran into Hoyt Rawlins, who later turned out to be a thief and con artist who saw Abby as his next victim.
However, he met his match and the tables quickly turned.
Unfortunately for viewers though, this is where the journey ends with American network The CW culling the show.
But in some good news for fans, its mothership series Walker has been commissioned for a fourth instalment.
The president of entertainment at the network Brad Schwartz said: “Over the past three seasons, Walker has become the top performing series on The CW with a passionate fanbase and a fantastic cast and creative team led by Jared Padalecki, who has now been a leading man on the network for over twenty years.”
He added: “As we build a great big new future for The CW, we are thrilled to be staying in business with our partners at CBS Studios and we cannot wait to have Walker back on the schedule.”
Fans of Walker in the UK are able to stream the show through The CW player’s website and app.
Meanwhile, Netflix has axed a show lead by an A-list star after just one series.
Man Vs Bee was released in summer 2022 and saw Rowan Atkinson play Trevor Bingley, a down-on-his-luck man who finds himself entrenched in a battle with a bee while house sitting a rich couple’s modern mansion.
However, The Sun has revealed how Rowan, 68, looks to have a rare failure on his hands, as Netflix has no plans to make a second series of the comedy.
It drew mixed reviews from critics and even Rowan admitted he was not entirely satisfied with the show.
