I’m a mum and I make the easiest, lazy dinner for my kids – I use Asda bargains and it only costs £1.50
A SAVVY mum has revealed that she makes the easiest, lazy dinner for her kids.
The bargain hunter mum explained that she uses bargain buys from Asda to make a delicious meal for only £1.50 each.
Known on social media as ‘Budget Mum Soph’, the mother took to TikTok to show off her cheap and cheerful recipe.
The money-saving mum posted her clip with the caption ‘budget dinner – veggie meatball subs.’
She said: “Let’s make the easiest, lazy dinner and it only comes to £1.50 a portion.”
The woman explained: “So I use these veggie meatballs from Asda, I only use half and then I use the other half in my meal plan.
“[I use] passata but I added some herbs and pepper just to give it a bit more taste and I added some grated mozzarella on top of that.
“You can add a ball of mozzarella which is cheaper.
“Then I use baguettes and I don’t know who I think I am and I don’t even know why I do this, I think my mum does it, but I just added water to the baguettes before I bake them, I don’t know why but anyway here we are.
“Literally the nicest baked meatball subs.
“As I say it’s super lazy, not the healthiest, but sometimes you just gotta have a treat, haven’t you?
“I did add some token red onion on top so there you go, we did get one of our five a day.”
Soph explained that she spent a total of £6.40 on the ingredients, but only used £3 worth of the food.
She made two portions of her sub, costing just £1.50 each.
