Man and woman died ‘unexpectedly’ at music festival in Essex as cops launch probe
POLICE are investigating the “unexpected” deaths of two people who attended a dance music festival.
A woman and a man separately attended the New World Festival in Basildon, Essex, on April 30 but died shortly afterwards.
Police charged to the Holiday Inn at Festival Leisure Park shortly after 2.15am on Monday, May 1, following concerns for a woman.
An Ambulance was scrambled to the scene and the lady, in her 20s, was taken to hospital in a critical condition, where she sadly later died.
Separately, officers received a report of the sudden death of a man – also in his 20s, EssexLive reports.
His death is being treated as “unexpected and unexplained” but at this stage not suspicious.
The organisers said they were “extremely saddened” by the pair’s deaths and will be “working to identify any lessons that can be applied”.
An Essex Police spokesperson said: “Further enquiries will be carried out to identify a cause of death.”
